The MiCD movement is being adopted by clinicians the world over by successfully integrating Minimally Invasive Cosmetic Dentistry in their practice. Minimally invasive techniques and principles have revolutionised the approach to cosmetic dentistry which is traditionally known to be more invasive. The MiCD concept promotes the conservation of sound tooth structure while achieving predictable smile aesthetics and imparting a positive psychological impact on the patient.

[Repalcing Old Restorations]
Patient complaint
28 years old female patient with history of old composite restorations and previous diastema closure visited my clinic. Her chief complaint was poor aesthetics in her front teeth and requested for a low cost treatment option while preserving her teeth. In these type of cases, direct composite restorations using the MiCD treatment approach becomes the most suitable option as predictable aesthetics can be achieved with minimum tooth preparation.
For this patient after assessing the available space and opacity of the natural tooth structure, I decided to use a 2 layer composite layering technique with Beautifil II LS and Beautifil II Enamel bioactive composites.
